Idukki district underneath pink alert issued by the India Meteorological Division (IMD) for Sunday and Monday.
The district administration in Idukki has instructed the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) and Tourism Division to curb tourism actions.
Jitheesh Jose, the secretary of Idukki DTPC, introduced that the Kolukkumalai jeep safari can be suspended for Sunday and Monday as a precautionary measure.
Given the pink alert, restrictions can be enforced on DTPC locations in Idukki.
If hostile climate circumstances, akin to heavy wind and rainfall, persist, entry to points of interest just like the Cantilever Glass Bridge at Wagamon and DTPC-operated boating providers can even be halted, Mr. Jose said.
He additional elaborated that the district had skilled a major inflow of vacationers in latest days.
“All DTPC centers will remain operational on Sunday and Monday, with restrictions being contingent upon weather developments,” he added.
Along with regulating tourism, the district administration has imposed a ban on mining and quarrying actions for the required interval.
Management rooms have been established throughout Thodupuzha, Idukki, Udumbanchola, Devikulam, and Peerumade taluks.
Tahsildars have been instructed to compile a listing of people to be relocated to safer areas in case of emergencies.
Notably, up to now 24 hours, Idukki taluk recorded the best rainfall at 39.4 mm, with Peerumade taluk receiving 30.5 mm, Thodupuzha taluk 31.02 mm, Devikulam taluk 15.2 mm, and Udumbanchola taluk receiving 1 mm of rainfall.
