Though whole housing begins decreased 3.9% in 2024 in comparison with 2023, completions elevated sharply year-over-year. There have been 1.731 million whole completions and placements in 2024, up 12.5% in comparison with 2023, and essentially the most since 2006.
Not counting Manufactured houses, there are 1.628 million completions in 2024, up 12.4% from 1.449 million in 2023, and in addition essentially the most since 2006.

The housing begin report final week indicated 1,020.4 thousand single household completions in 2024 (pink), up 2.2% from 998.8 thousand in 2023. There have been 16.8 thousand completions of 2-to-4 items, and 590.6 thousand completions of 5+ items (blue), up 35% from 2023, and essentially the most since 1974!
